After Singapore I flew to Medan and booked a tour in Bukit Lawang to see the rare orangutans in the Gunung Leuser National Park, afterwards I explored the biggest volcano lake of the world “Lake Toba”. More about the places and budget on the Indonesia page here.

Great pics. It was a documentary on BBC1 that prompted me to post my photos of Sumatra from about 12 years ago. It was just after the tsunami, so there was a lot of devastation, but it was still a magical trip.

Thank you, oh wow I didn’t know that the tsunami hit Sumatra so badly as well, I was in Thailand one year after it – very sad, too.
